Our Philosophy

We at Star Music believe in the power of music. Not just what it does to enrich our lives, but particularly the positive gifts and experiences it provides for young people. It has never been our idea that everyone who learns to play an instrument will want to continue and become professionals. Even a limited involvement in music can produce an appreciation and love that will last a lifetime.

We believe that music should be available to everyone who is interested in pursuing it. It became troubling to see many youngsters who lacked the encouragement and support

from home or who were unable to participate because of the expense involved. Therefore, we set out to make good, reasonably priced band horns and guitars available for beginning students. We carry a specialized inventory because we have limited space and we feel we should carry what we know and understand. At this time we are not selling percussion equipment, pianos, violins, cellos, etc. Because we feel so strongly about the merchandise we sell, we have looked long and hard to find good quality instruments that we can sell and rent at reasonable prices. We have set up several rental/ purchase plans in the hope that parents can find one that fits their circumstances best. Our instruments are also chosen so that if they are well cared for they will last a student through their high school playing years should they choose to continue that long. Those few who become very serious, studying privately to pursue music in college and a possible career in music will eventually need to purchase an advanced model instrument. We are also prepared for those students and have aligned with companies which manufacture advanced and professional lines which we can special order for a player’s particular specifications.

Although a great part of our business is devoted to beginning band students, we also have a number of beginning adult students of all ages. Those people who played an instrument when they were young and want to play again for their own enjoyment and those who didn’t have the opportunity and have decided to take up guitar or a horn later in life. We welcome all students of all ages and are eager to work with them to ensure their success.
